Managing Director
Managing Director of the Child Safety Fund (CSF) provides executive leadership rooted in deep experience in child protection systems, federal grant compliance, and organizational governance. This role is responsible for advancing CSF’s mission of preventing cruelty to children by strengthening mandated reporting systems, standardizing evidence-based training, and ensuring organizational integrity. Drawing on proven experience in policy development, child welfare practice, and program implementation, the Managing Director oversees daily operations, ensures compliance with federal and state requirements, manages financial and programmatic performance, and represents CSF with funders, partners, and the community.
Designated Officer. The “Designated Officer” title will be used in formal policies to refer to whoever is appointed to fulfill this role
Organizational Leadership
Lead the execution of CSF’s strategic plan, translating national child safety goals into actionable programs.
Supervise staff, contractors, and subrecipients, ensuring effective program delivery and alignment with CSF’s mission.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and compliance at all organizational levels.
Grant and Program Management
Direct the design, implementation, and evaluation of federally funded initiatives.
Ensure all project deliverables, timelines, and performance measures are met with precision and quality.
Coordinate with program officers under cooperative agreements, providing responsive communication and timely submission of all required reports.
Financial Oversight
Manage organizational budgets in collaboration with the Treasurer and Board Finance Committee (when applicable).
Approve expenditures consistent with CSF’s Finance Policy.
Oversee payroll, fringe benefit administration, and financial documentation to ensure allocability, allowability, and reasonableness of costs.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure organizational adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and funding requirements.
Implement and monitor CSF’s internal control framework to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse.
Oversee disclosures, record retention, and subrecipient monitoring as required under federal compliance standards.
Board Relations and Governance
Provide the Board of Directors with accurate and timely updates on financial, programmatic, and compliance matters.
Support the Board in governance, fundraising, and policy oversight.
Recuse from personal compensation-related decisions in accordance with CSF’s Conflict of Interest Policy.
External Relations
Serve as the primary representative of CSF with partner organizations, government contacts, and other stakeholders.
Cultivate partnerships that strengthen the national training framework for mandated reporters and child protection professionals.
Engage stakeholders through presentations, workshops, and community initiatives to advance CSF’s mission.
Qualifications
Extensive experience in child welfare systems, including mandated reporter training, child abuse/neglect reporting, and cross-sector collaboration.
Demonstrated expertise in federal grant management, policy compliance, and nonprofit governance.
Strong record of developing programs, policies, and curricula that improve child safety outcomes.
Proven ability to lead organizations through start-up and growth phases while maintaining compliance discipline.
Compensation
Salary is established by the CSF Board of Directors based on qualifications, market benchmarks, and organizational budget.
Compensation includes base salary plus fringe benefits (health, retirement contributions, and payroll taxes) as defined in CSF’s Compensation and Fringe Benefits Policy.
Compensation is reviewed annually by the Board to ensure reasonableness and compliance with federal standards.
Base Salary
The Managing Director position is compensated on a full-time basis within a salary range of $85,000 to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and budget availability. Salary levels are established and reviewed by the Board of Directors to ensure fairness, competitiveness with comparable nonprofit leadership roles, and compliance with any relevant regulations or standards.
The Managing Director’s salary is based on BLS wage data for General and Operations Managers (SOC 11-1021) in the Oklahoma City region, consistent with federal standards for reasonable compensation.
Reporting
The Managing Director reports directly to the Board and serves as CSF’s "Designated Officer."
