Work Hours
This policy establishes standard work-hour expectations for CSF employees and contractors to ensure fair compensation, accountability, and compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and applicable federal grant regulations.
Employees
A normal workweek for full-time employees consists of eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday and ending at midnight the following Sunday.
Employees are expected to work their assigned schedules, maintain punctuality, and obtain approval for any changes or absences.
For part-time employees, CSF expects adherence to the total weekly hours agreed upon at the time of hire or as documented in their employment agreement.
All work hours must be accurately recorded in CSF’s designated timekeeping system.
Contractors (1099 Workers)
Independent contractors may establish and manage their own schedules unless otherwise defined in a written agreement. While CSF does not dictate contractor work hours, contractors are expected to:
Complete assignments within agreed deadlines and deliverables.
Fulfill contractual obligations related to service hours, caseload, and documentation.
Maintain professional availability for communication with CSF during normal business hours.
Meal and Rest Breaks
CSF compensates all employees for their full scheduled workday, inclusive of rest and meal periods.
Full-time employees are scheduled for eight (8) paid hours per workday, which includes one (1) meal period and two (2) rest breaks.
Employees are not required to clock out for meal or rest breaks; the paid workday represents total compensated time.
Breaks are intended to support well-being and productivity. Employees are encouraged to use this time for rest, meals, or personal needs.
Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that staff are relieved of regular duties during meal breaks, except in emergency or mission-critical circumstances.
If operational demands occasionally require a missed or shortened break, the time remains paid and does not require adjustment in timekeeping records.
Overtime
CSF’s standard workday consists of eight (8) paid hours, inclusive of rest and meal periods. A standard workweek for full-time employees totals forty (40) paid hours.
Advance Authorization: Overtime may only be worked with prior written approval from the Designated Officer or their designee. Employees must not perform work outside their scheduled hours without explicit authorization.
Definition: Overtime is defined as hours worked in excess of forty (40) in a single workweek. Paid leave, holidays, or paid breaks are not counted as hours worked for overtime calculation purposes.
Compensation: Non-exempt employees are compensated for authorized overtime at one-and-one-half (1½) times their regular hourly rate, in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Exempt employees are not eligible for overtime pay but are expected to manage workloads responsibly within their established schedules.
Workload Management: Employees who consistently experience workloads exceeding normal capacity should promptly notify their supervisor or the Designated Officer for reassessment, redistribution, or reprioritization of tasks.
Documentation: Overtime must be accurately reflected in the employee’s timekeeping record for the pay period in which it is earned. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring accuracy and approval before submission to payroll.
If workload expectations consistently exceed capacity, employees should promptly inform their Designated Officer for workload assessment or reassignment.
Compliance and Enforcement
Failure to record hours accurately, unauthorized overtime, or misrepresentation of time worked may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. The Designated Officer oversees compliance with this policy.
